How to book an appointment
Three steps, and the rules that apply to every booking.
- Where and what. Choose the office you will visit and the transactions you are coming for. One visit may cover several transactions — you make one trip, not one per transaction.
- When. Pick a date, then one of the day’s sessions.
- Your details. First and last name, and an email address. No account, no registration, no password.
Check the requirements for your transaction before you travel, and bring the original documents — nothing is uploaded online and papers are examined at the window.
When you press Book
Your appointment is confirmed straight away and the confirmation page opens with your reference number and QR code on it. No email is sent, so that page is your only copy.
Save the QR code, write the reference number down, or use the Print or save as PDF button on the page. If you lose it, you can find the booking again below.
Appointments are booked by session
The office does not issue an exact minute. You book a session and are served within it in arrival order, so come at the start of your session rather than at a particular time.
- Morning (8:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
- Midday (11:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
- Afternoon (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
Individual offices may open fewer sessions than these; the booking form only offers what the office you chose actually has.
Case numbers
Some transactions ask for the case number of the file you are following up, in the form 2026-12345. The booking form asks for it where it applies and will not accept the booking without it.
It identifies which file you are asking about, so the clerk finds the right one at the window. If you are collecting several cases in one visit, add a line for each — that is still one appointment and one place in the queue.
Booking rules
- Earliest you can book
- 7 days before your appointment
- Furthest ahead you can book
- 60 days
- Active appointments at one time
- 3
- Cancelling
- Any time before your session
One person may hold one appointment per session. A visit covering several transactions still has to fit inside a single session, so the form will say so if the transactions you picked need longer than one session allows.
Finding or cancelling your booking
To look a booking up, you need your reference number and the date of the appointment. Scanning the QR code on your confirmation opens the same check automatically.
To cancel, you need your reference number and the email address you booked with. You are shown the booking and asked to confirm before anything changes.
If you miss your appointment
Appointments that are never checked in are marked as no-shows. After 3 no-shows you will not be able to book any appointment for 30 days. Please cancel if your plans change — cancelling does not count as a no-show, and the slot returns to the public straight away.
